If we live without a dream, what is the difference between you and a salted fish?
做人如果没有梦想,那跟咸鱼有什么区别?
- 周星驰 <<少林足球>>
This quote is always one of my favorites. It originates from a famous Hong Kong comedy film, Shaolin Soccer directed by Stephen Chow. I love Stephen Chow’s movies; they are silly, funny, and inspiring.
Life without a dream is like painting a canvas with one or two colors. Nothing triggers us to think or add new colors to make it more lively. Can we live without a dream? Yes, we can. We stay in our comfort zones, mingle in the same bubbles, do repetitive routines, and end up in a soulless life.
Having a dream makes us feel more content with life. We continue our daily routines, but now we have an additional drive to explore new colors that might lead us to somewhere we do not expect ourselves will end up. It pushes us beyond our limits. Take a bold move and blend random colors to create a dream picture.
Certainly, setting realistic dreams or clear goals is the first step, in order to make them happen, we need to invest time and put in some hard work. You need to earn it yourself. I wonder why Stephen relates a human without a dream to a salted fish. I guess it is because salted fish is dried, fermented, and … dead.
Instead of salted fish, be like Dory. Just Keep Swimming 🌊
